It started with fishing ...
A/S Oilpower Hydraulics was established in Esbjerg in 1981 by Jens Thrane, Ove Tanggaard Jakobsen, Erik Samsø and H.P. Jakobsen. The starting point was the extensive sea fishing from Esbjerg, and the customers came quickly from the rest of Denmark and Greenland. The company solved its first tasks in borrowed premises at the port of Esbjerg. After a year, the tasks had become so many that the workshop was moved to Boven 2-4 and then to the present address Skippergade 7.
Often, there was a need for fast custom solutions for production equipment to customers in the fishing trade and local machinery industries. Over the years, Oilpower’s inventive technicians and production crew have, designed and produced countless custom solutions. These custom solutions and 24-7 service have become the product of the company.

Into the future with off-shore and subsea-equipment
Today, A/S Oilpower Hydraulic mainly solves tasks for the rest of the maritime industry – ferries, guard ships, wind turbine ships and industrial companies. Subsea Solutions is a business area from which A/S Oilpower Hydraulics has been working with from the beginning and continuously expanding.
Oilpower Hydraulics designs, manufactures and tests special equipment for geophysical surveys of the seabed, prior to permanent port facilities, platforms, wind turbine foundations, etc. are placed.

Generation change and new owners
In 2007 A/S Oilpower Hydraulics was sold to Kjeld V. Christensen, Lars Nielsen, Torben Thomsen and Jacob Thrane. Three of the new owners were already employees of the company at the time and had been for a number of years.
Moving to new premises
In January 2014, A/S Oilpower Hydraulics moved into completely new buildings. Still on Esbjerg harbor, but now right next to the quayside.
